Marshmallow Table Runner

Can you believe it's already the final day of s'mores week? This week sure has flown by! Today I'll be sharing an alternative way to use the s'mores stamps I showed you on Monday.

All you have to do is stamp a a long strip of paper, let it dry, and roll it out on your table for instant summer decor! Wouldn't this be perfect for a custom s'mores bar?

Here are a few of my favourite s'mores links for you to try out over the weekend!

This mini all-in-one s'mores kit by Lauren Elise is too adorable for words!
I'm sure you've seen the s'mores cake in a jar by Jessica of How Sweet Eats all over Pinterest, but I can tell you from experience how tasty they are. So. Tasty.

Mini S'mores on a Stick

S'mores can be an appetizer, right? I don't think there is a valid argument against it, especially when they're so cute and the portions are so small! You've got to try making these for your next summer party - I promise they'll be gobbled up before you can say s'more d'oeuvres.

Supplies: chocolate wafers, mini marshmallows, Golden Grahams cereal, sandwich toothpicks, wooden skewer.

Method:
Step 1: Using a sandwich toothpick, carefully poke a hole in the centre of the Golden Graham.
Step 2: Gently twist and slide the Golden Graham so that it fits over the widest part of the toothpick. Be patient with this step - some Golden Grahams will break in two, so just put those to the side (or back in the box for eating later). You'll need four pieces of cereal per stick, so depending on how many s'mores sticks you're making it might be a good idea to put Moonrise Kingdom on in the background.
Step 3: Slide the Golden Graham so that it sits about 3/4" from the flat end of the toothpick.
Step 4: Melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave and use the wooden skewer to dab chocolate onto the top of the Golden Graham.
Step 5: Slide a mini marshmallow onto the toothpick so that it touches the melted chocolate.
Step 6: Put more melted chocolate on top of the mini marshmallow.
Step 7: Place a Golden Graham on top of the melted chocolate.
Step 8: Repeat for the rest of the marshmallows and Golden Grahams.
Step 9: Repeat. Let the chocolate harden and enjoy!

If poking holes through Golden Grahams isn't a route you want to go, you could instead skewer three mini marshmallows onto the toothpick, put melted chocolate on either side of them, and then sandwich the marshmallow with the Golden Grahams.

I kept them simple by tying plain cotton string on the end of the toothpick, but you could use coloured twine or ribbon to match the theme or decor of your gathering.

S'mores On The Go Kit

If you've ever been assigned to bring s'mores supplies on a camping trip, you'll know that having the right ratio of marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers on hand is key. Somehow I always seem to end up with a box of graham crackers left, and that's no fun at all! I've seen s'more kits popping up in grocery stores these days, but why buy overpriced ones when you can craft your own?

Today's DIY is an efficient way to avoid running out of s'mores ingredients around the fire! There are tons of ways you could choose to organize your boxes - one s'mores box allotted per night camping, or each camper gets their own box to ration as they please.

Not a camping person, but still love s'mores? No worries, these s'mores boxes are summer barbecue friendly too! If you're hosting the gathering, have a stack of boxes prepared for dessert or as favours for the end of the night.

Supplies: card stock (brown and any other colour), tin foil to-go box with lid (available at the dollar store), ruler, scissors, glue stick, brown marker.

Method:
Step 1: Trace the lid of the box onto the non-brown card stock and cut it out.
Step 2: Measure the lid and determine the measurements of the graham crackers. You'll want to leave a little bit of space between each cracker so they stand out. In my case, they were about 1 3/4" by 2".
Step 3: Use your brown marker to draw graham cracker patterns on the card stock. I only used the ruler to draw the centre line and to mark the middle dot - from there you can easily eyeball the rest of the dots.
Step 4: Glue the graham crackers onto the card stock.
Step 5: Glue the card stock onto the non-shiny side of the lid.
Step 6: Repeat as necessary!

And don't forget the best part - filling the boxes! These ones held enough for 6 s'mores each, plus 1 extra marshmallow to replace the inevitable burnt marshmallow.

White Chocolate Floral S'mores

One of the things I love most about s'mores is how customizable they are - you can switch up the crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow to make whatever flavour combination you want! Today's post is a colourful and sweet take on s'mores that can easily be wrapped and assembled into a cute s'mores gift pack.

Supplies: white chocolate roses (I made mine with Wilton's Roses & Buds Mold and melted chocolate wafers), mini coloured marshmallows, almond cookies (Dare Simple Pleasures Almond Cookies are pictured), small box, paper nesting, ribbon, parchment paper, small plastic bags, scrap paper, stapler.

Method:
Step 1: Package the s'mores components into separate bags. I put the chocolate and marshmallows into the small plastic bags and stapled a strip of paper to finish the top edge. For the cookies, I wrapped them in parchment paper and stapled the ends closed. I included enough ingredients to make two s'mores.

Step 2: Fill your box with paper nesting and place the packaged ingredients in the box. Use a ribbon to tie the box closed, and that's it! They're so colourful and delicious - the fruit-flavoured marshmallows combined with the subtle almond taste of the cookies is a tasty twist on regular s'mores.

Wouldn't they be a fun alternative to a bouquet of flowers if you're celebrating a graduation, new job, or birthday this summer?

S'mores Stamped Gift Wrap

Looking for a playful way to wrap gifts for summer birthdays or hostess presents? Today's DIY s'mores wrapping paper is sure to please, even if the lucky recipient doesn't have a sweet tooth.

Supplies: cardboard scraps, foam sheet with adhesive backing (or plain foam sheets with double sided tape), exacto knife, nail, pencil, ruler

Method:
Step 1: Draw simple line drawings of a graham cracker, chocolate bar, and marshmallow onto the foam sheet.
Step 2: Use the exacto knife to cut out the shapes.
Step 3: Cut along the interior lines of the shapes as well.
Step 4: For the chocolate bar stamp, trim the inner squares so that they fit inside the bigger squares with a small gap between the two.
Step 5: Use the nail to poke holes through the dots on the graham cracker.
Step 6: Peel the backing off of the foam shapes and adhere them to a piece of cardboard. If you are using plain foam sheets, attach the foam to the cardboard with double sided tape.
Step 7: If desired, attach a simple handle to the back of the stamp to easier stamping.
Step 8: Repeat for the other shapes.

Step 9: Brush paint onto the foam shapes and stamp onto your choice of paper. I used a simple kraft paper and stamped in rows, but I think a more randomized pattern would be a lot of fun too!

Once the wrapping paper is completely dry, simply wrap your gift and you're ready to go!

DIY Canada Day Pins

Can you believe July is almost here already? Summer's just been flying by this year. If Canada Day has snuck up on you, these quick little pins are a simple way to add some red and white to any outfit. Hosting a Canada Day party this weekend? Try handing them out to guests as they arrive, or put them in a dish on the patio table.

Added bonus: if you're like me and will camping this long weekend, our car will be PACKED so having a small way to celebrate Canada is definitely right on the mark.

Supplies: Balsa wood circles (diameter 1 1/4" and 3/4"), red acrylic paint, paintbrush, scissors, hot glue gun, various red and white ribbon, small safety pins.

Method:
Step 1: Cut ribbon length as desired.
Step 2: Put a small dab of hot glue on the ribbon and fold closed, pinching at the glued spot.
Step 3: Hot glue the balsa wood circle onto the ribbon.
Step 4: Attach the safety pin onto the back of the ribbon using hot glue.
Step 5: Paint a maple leaf onto the circle. You could also use small maple leaf stamp instead.

And that's all there is to it! Pin one or more onto your shirt - bonus points if you're wearing a Canadian tuxedo! Alternatively, you could leave off the safety pins, string the ribbons onto a piece of string and hang as decoration.
